About us
“Fleur de Roy” represents an extraordinary journey, envisioned, orchestrated, and accomplished across oceans and generations.
The peony “Fleur de Roy” was :
conceived in the south west of France in Occitanie by Dominique Rougeau-Roy,
cultivated in the south west of Ontario in the county of Chatham-Kent by his youngest son Charles-André Rougeau-Roy,
and commercialized by his sister-in-law and aunt Valérie Chort-Roy.

Integrated into, and respectful of biodiversity.
Fleur de Roy peonies are planted as they would be in a garden, spaced to encourage strong growth and separated by wide naturally grassed paths, to maintain soil life and promote the fauna and flora in Bay Lodge’s vast marsh ecosystem, home to many protected species and staging area for thousands of migratory birds.
Technical expertise
The quality of the Fleur de Roy peony is grounded in technical excellence stemming from a decade of research conducted by Franco-Canadian agronomist experts and engineers.
The result:
- In our fields – a healthy, highly productive peony plant with full buds reaching over 1.4 metres in height
- In the cooler – when maintained between 2 – 4 degrees Celsius, a peony that retains its quality and freshness for over 3 weeks.
- In your vase – a cut peony of exceptional purity, fragrance, and longevity, recognized by professionals, respected by competitors, and adored by enthusiasts.
Social, Local and Conscious
Social commitment. From start to finish, the Fleur de Roy peony journey is made possible by local employees – students and retirees alike, fostering connections across generations of horticulture enthusiasts.
Local economy. Fleur de Roy is part of and contributes to the prosperity of the local economy by supporting local suppliers and creating business partnerships.
Environmentally conscious. At each stage of our production and across our value chain, our goal is to minimize our environmental impact. The Fleur de Roy peony is grown outdoors in our garden, then sold and delivered within a limited radius of 400km, embodying a commitment to sustainable and responsible practices.
